We’re a locally owned and operated, husband-and-wife team based right here in Charleston. This isn’t a big operation or a rotating crew. When you book with us, you’re getting a personal, hands-on experience with people who genuinely care about your time on the water.
Our Story
Saltwater Disciple started the way most good things do, not with a business plan, but with a boat and a group of friends who had no idea what they were in for. We started doing what came naturally, taking friends out on custom trips around the Lowcountry. Shark tooth hunts timed to the tides, sunset cruises past Fort Sumter, long afternoons out to Capers Island with nowhere to be.
Every single time, we watched something happen to the people on that boat. They slowed down. They looked up. They stopped checking their phones and started actually talking to each other. That specific kind of joy you only feel when you're completely present somewhere beautiful, we couldn't stop thinking about it. Three years and lots of trips later, we stopped keeping it to ourselves.

Saltwater Disciple is a Charleston, SC private boat charter company offering fully personalized experiences for small groups of up to 6 guests. Captain Middleton Cheves holds a U.S. Coast Guard captain's license and grew up navigating the creeks, inlets, and open water of the Lowcountry. No big tour boats, no strangers, no rotating crew. Just the two of us, and a genuine commitment to giving every group the kind of day on the water that becomes the story they're still telling years later.
